One by one

Teeth that is. Her left bottom front tooth finally is poking through. I'm just hoping all her gum bumps to become teeth this week since Scott just left for Delaware for the week. (Now I just have to wait until it is through a little more to take a pic).

Party part 3- Cake

With the help of my co-worker, Jean, I made Camryn's cake and birthday cupcakes from scratch. Her block cake was a lot easier to make than I thought and I made a banana cake since she loves her bananas. Jean helped make all of the chocolate cupcakes from scratch not to mention two batches of whipped cream frosting. (Incorrectly, I decided the whip cream was not whipped enough and then it turned into over whipped cream, still tasty).

The blocks were made with butter cream frosting and boy could Camryn tell. She picked at the butter cream. Although, she tried one balloon and must have determined that they were too sweet because she picked off the remaining three balloons and handed them to me. I don't think she ever actually ate the cake but Scott and I tried it the next day and it was quite good. I won't go into the color of her bowel movement the next day.

Party Part 2 - Birthday slide

Uncle Brent & Katie and Aunt Laura & Rob bought Cam this lovely play slide. She really can't get enough of it. She is still figuring out how to go down and tries to turn around to go on her stomach but there isn't a ton of room to turn around (once her motor skills improve it will be better).

Party Part 1

More pictures and videos coming soon.

We missed Aunt Laura & Rob and Uncle Brenten.

Thank you all for helping us celebrate.

1 year in Review

Reflections of the parents:

I think that the first year is the toughest on Mom. The innate knowledge of what a baby needs does not translate well to the male population. When she was tiny and crying and we couldn't figure out what she wanted Scott's answer was "feed her." Well that didn't always work. After working with children birth-three for work and observing the challenges that could materialize I am so thankful and blessed to have a typical baby.

Scott feels that Cam's first year has gone by way too fast and cannot believe all the accomplishments she has made. He feels the hardest part was adjusting our lifestyles to the baby. (I have to agree this was difficult for Scott since I had to constantly say "We can't go out it's her nap time" or "It's time to eat."). Scott feels we really lucked out with such a happy baby and I can't agree more.

Quick Update

I know, I know I promised you videos but the basement has been keeping us busy. Just thought I would leave you a little note to tell you that . . . Camryn is officially walking. Well, she has taken a couple steps here and there but today she started consistently taking about 5 steps to reach the object of her desire without holding onto anything. I am so excited now we don't have to worry about holes in pants or scraped up knees with summer coming. I can only imagine the workout she is going to give us when she really decides to take off.
